The Initiative Pro Klima tree sponsorship was sealed at the beginning of April when a Japanese Pagoda Tree was planted, which now adorns the square in front of the new "Oceanliner" building on Ilminsel, an island in the river Ilm in Pfaffenhofen. Besides the exotic species from Japan, which is perfectly suited to the conditions of the paved square, local trees were planted on the island and surrounding area.
"Planting trees is a symbolic act to send a signal that climate protection begins in your own backyard," says Oskar Waitz, Managing Director of Zieglmeier. "We have made it our job to promote environmental awareness among our customers as well as in our own company."
The horticultural show, which opened on May 24 and runs until August 20, 2017, has already attracted well over 100,000 visitors. By sponsoring 25 trees, OIL! and Zieglmeier are helping to create a green cityscape and a good climate beyond the horticultural show.
Supported by a group of medium-sized companies in the energy sector, including OIL! Tankstellen and Zieglmeier Energie, the Initiative Pro Klima initiates and finances climate research and protection projects. As part of this commitment, over 147,000 trees have already been planted in Germany.
OIL! Tankstellen GmbH & Co. KG is a subsidiary of Mabanaft, the trading division of Marquard & Bahls, Germany. Since 1994, OIL! has been operating a continuously growing service station network throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Denmark with more than 320 service stations, over 220 of them in Germany. OIL! offers customer-oriented services and has positioned itself as an independent brand in the service station business.
Zieglmeier Energie GmbH has been active in the energy industry for decades. Headquartered in Schrobenhausen, the company also operates a branch office in Pfaffenhofen, covering the greater Augsburg, Ingolstadt and Munich areas. Traded products include heating oil, diesel, natural gas, electricity, lubricants and wood pellets.
